Valentinsdans - Dans jer tættere
🗓 14. februar
🕑 kl. 14.00–16.00
Undervisningen tager udgangspunkt i at:
-
skabe tryghed i bevægelsen
-
lytte til hinanden gennem kroppen
-
Program for eftermiddagen:

Valentine’s Dance – Dance a Little Closer
🗓 February 14
🕑 2:00–4:00 PM
📍 Café Globen

Valentine’s Day is not only about roses and romantic dinners – it’s about connection. About being together in a way that makes room for presence, playfulness, and attention. This afternoon, we invite you into the warm and intimate setting of Café Globen, a place known for its open-hearted atmosphere and international community.
This event is for couples, dates, and any two people who wish to meet through movement and come a little closer. Whether you’ve been together for years, have just met, or are simply curious about exploring your relationship through dance, you are warmly welcome.
We will mainly dance merengue, a simple and rhythmic partner dance from the Dominican Republic. Merengue is especially well-suited for those who want to dance together without having much – or any – previous dance experience. The steps are easy to pick up, and there is no need to learn lots of flashy variations.
When the dance is simple, space opens for something else:
eye contact,
listening through the body,
and the quiet conversation that happens without words.
The teaching approach focuses on:
-Creating safety in movement
-Listening to one another through the body
-Using dance as a space for presence, curiosity, and connection.
The approach is relational rather than performance-oriented – it’s not about knowing how to do something beforehand, but about being in the experience together.
Program for the afternoon:
💃 45 minutes of guided dance - exploration and playfulness
🥂 20-minute break with delicious snacks and sparkling wine
✨ 45 minutes of guided dance - exploration and playfulness
The breaks offer time to land, sense one another, and enjoy the atmosphere before moving together again.
No dance experience needed - only the desire to be together and be present <3

In Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen we teach dance styles from the Dominican Republic such as Bachata and Merengue with occasional inspiration from Bolero, Son Dominicano and Dembow. And we have a strong desire do share the roots and history of the dance we love, aswell as paying tribute to the culture it comes from.
We are a continuously growing, a diverse community with different nationalities and culture. We strive to make it a brave and inclusive place, with space for trial and error. You are encouraged to play and try things out to see what works best for you – whether you’d like to lead or follow, is up to you!
Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen (BDC) was created by Lærke Birk in 2020. She did sporadic events while strongly affected by a global pandemic – in 2022 it became a joint adventure with Mette Larsen who then took over in 2023 when Lærke decided to retreat from the project (but with her continued support of the events and activities).
To keep our knowledge and inspiration fresh, we frequently participate in Dominican Festivals around the world as well as instructor courses and visiting the Island.
Hope to see you on the dance floor soon! 🕺💃
