đ€ About Ramon Brito
Ramon Brito is a Dominican dancer and instructor with deep roots in Dominican dance culture, shaped between New York and Santiago in the Dominican Republic. His dancing carries the richness of traditional bachata, infused with influences from Dominican folkloric movement, Latin dance, and subtle urban groovesâresulting in a style that feels grounded, musical, and deeply expressive.
Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ramon travels across Europe sharing his passion for authentic bachata. He is also the organizer of the Bachata Como Eh Festival, a celebration of traditional Dominican bachata that brings dancers together around music, culture, and social connectionâan event that a group from Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen will travel to in October 2026.
Ramonâs classes are known for their warm, relaxed atmosphere and clear teaching. Rather than focusing on memorized patterns, he helps dancers truly understand the musicâhow to listen, feel, and let it naturally guide their movement. Dancers often leave his classes feeling more confident, connected, and inspired to enjoy bachata in its most authentic form.
đ¶ What is Bachata Dominicana?
Bachata is a traditional music and dance from the Dominican Republic, rooted in Afro-Caribbean rhythms, storytelling, and social connection. Dominican-style bachata emphasizes footwork, musical play, and improvisationâless about patterns, more about feeling the music and enjoying the moment.
đ About Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen
Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen is a community dedicated to sharing authentic Dominican bachata as a social, musical, and cultural dance. Alongside movement and technique, we place strong emphasis on the history, cultural roots, and musical traditions behind the danceâbecause understanding where bachata comes from shapes how it is danced.
Our focus is on musicality, rhythm, improvisation, and relaxed partner connection, encouraging dancers to move naturally and express themselves rather than follow fixed patterns. The community is open and inclusive, welcoming dancers of all levels and backgrounds.
Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen is about connectionâto the music, the culture, and each other.
Come for the dancing. Stay for the community.
We canât wait to share the floor with you đ
(We keep the right to make changes to the program if needed)

In Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen we teach dance styles from the Dominican Republic such as Bachata and Merengue with occasional inspiration from Bolero, Son Dominicano and Dembow. And we have a strong desire do share the roots and history of the dance we love, aswell as paying tribute to the culture it comes from.
We are a continuously growing, a diverse community with different nationalities and culture. We strive to make it a brave and inclusive place, with space for trial and error. You are encouraged to play and try things out to see what works best for you â whether youâd like to lead or follow, is up to you!
Bachata Dominicana Copenhagen (BDC) was created by LĂŠrke Birk in 2020. She did sporadic events while strongly affected by a global pandemic â in 2022 it became a joint adventure with Mette Larsen who then took over in 2023 when LĂŠrke decided to retreat from the project (but with her continued support of the events and activities).
To keep our knowledge and inspiration fresh, we frequently participate in Dominican Festivals around the world as well as instructor courses and visiting the Island.
Hope to see you on the dance floor soon! đșđ
